No Better Place to Live than Austin

For the third year in a row, Austin tops U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of the best places to live in the United States.

Austin tops many lists, but this one seems to carry more weight with audiences than most.

The ranking of 250 of the largest metro areas in the country takes into account several factors, such as quality of life, the job market, and housing affordability. The magazine released the latest list late April 8.

Quality of life was the biggest factor measured in the ranking. That takes into account things such as quality of available health care, crime rates, commute times and how well residents fare physically, socially and financially.

Here’s how the top 10 shook out for 2019:

  1. Austin
  2. Denver
  3. Colorado Springs, Colorado
  4. Fayetteville, Arkansas
  5. Des Moines, Iowa
  6. Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota
  7. San Francisco
  8. Portland
  9. Seattle
  10. Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
